FREAKY FRIDAY

Today was a challenge. sort of busy in the Health Room. then I got....."Dina , go to Gordon, he's having a heart attack"!! He is the Custodian at the school. Now , ANYTIME SOMEONE YELLS HEART ATTACK...It creates nerves, confidence questioned...(am I gonna help?). I shouted back "CALL 911!!". I ran outside. he was about 50 yards away from me sitting on the ground against the wall. As I got closer I could see his left arm was hanging in a way that was "different".
I have never witnessed a heart attack or a stroke, let alone on someone I know. but it seemed ( with little knowledge I have) he was having a stroke. As I began to talk to him, I said "Hi Gordon. your going to be fine. ( I really didn't know that) can you smile for me?"

He looked at me like WHO'S THE PATIENT HERE???!!! TAKE HER AWAY.

I said again" I know that sounds funny right now, but can you smile for me?" he did. only half his face smiled. He knew. I knew.
He asked me "Am I having a stroke ? (very slurred)"
Me " Well the good news is....(as we could hear faint sirens coming)....the ambulance is very close, and IF you are, your very alert which is good...".
Trying to remain calm in situations is HARD. I don't care what kind of training you've had. Were all humans, same fears, during these times....and his eyes were "scared". I just kept thinking ,say POSITIVE, HOPEFUL THINGS!!!!
Paramedics got there & took him away. I DO FEEL HE'S going to be okay....but the minute your back in "safe" zone again, that's when it hits you. My legs got shakey, I was worried for him...did I do all I can do???
When he told me he was 52, it really wakes you up!! IT CAN HAPPEN WHILE YOUR YOUNG.
About 5 people made doctors appointments for "things" they've been putting off....I'll be # 6.

a little humor

I was volunteering at the Children's Ark Sunday and we had about 17 3 yr olds. When we take them to the restroom, there must be 2 adults ( for legal reasons). Now, I've done this a few times, but it's not that often that the children need to go to the restroom. Today was unique. We would take 5 kids....by the time we got back 4 more.....back n' forth. finally the last group I took ( before the parents were to arrive) I had a load of 6 kids.

Walking toward the door, one of the other volunteers all bright n' cheery said with a BIG SMILE..

" I thought I heard little voices!"

Me ( being sarcastic) " I'm told they have counseling for that sort of thing".

hee , hee. she found that soo funny, she continued to laugh about it to the point I was now embarrassed. guess ya had to be there!!

Saturday...Saturday...Saturday..hmmm hmmm

a little girl named Irieanna is such a luv chunk!! Alika RARELY holds others babies!!! He was like "bring her here". held her for 15 minutes kissing her as though it was Tiki!!! Everyone on the beach gave him a hard time..uh oh watch out- Alika's gettin "baby fever". This is the first time I've seen him so into a baby in along time....stayed tuuned.........

Saturday, woke up early...drove around the island, enjoying the beauty. stopping at beaches here & there...then within an hour, IT GOT UGLY! so went to our "home" beach waikiki..of course beautiful there. Tiki saw this japanese couple & GRABBED THE CAMERA yelling "MOM! they got MARRIED! I WANNA TAKE A PICTURE!" they wanted her IN IT.
They walked away & she started crying. I said "whats the matter?!"
"mommy, I wanna go with them."
ooo boy, somebody's tired!!


My Niece ( my sister's oldest) Tianna with her boy friend ( I refuse to make the word as one) she's still my baby. She is currently working on the princess cruises that go island hopping as a Tahitian Dancer. She's having a blast @ 20 yrs. ahh youth..

IT'S A GOOD HUMP DAY!!!

Today was to be my last day at the school I adore soo much. It was quite a busy day, one little girl said "tomorrow, I want to come in to change my bandaids". I wiped her hair out of her eyes and said "please do!, Miss T will be back tomorrow". they both looked at each other, very sad and said " why won't YOU be here?" I explained, I'm just a sub. they held hands and slowly walked out and one girl ( who FREQUENTS the health room) said " I'll miss you and I really liked you".

Ok, I was pretty pouty after that. I felt as though I was slipping into a depression...reality was hitting me. One of the office staff came in with beautiful daisy's and said this is from the office, because your sooo good with the kids and we really like you here. they hugged, I got choked up.

I was saying goodbye's the phone rang..."it's for you". My boss, GOOD NEWS.....SHE'S NOT COMING BACK FOR AWHILE!!". It is bittersweet,( I don't want someone else's health to be bad...I just want that school!!)

Now I'm jumping up & down, they join me.. I call my husband to say I got him a present....He'll see it when he comes home. I'm making a chuck roast with potatoes, etc.....went to Blockbuster to get 2 movies he's been wanting to see...I see Josh Holloway ( from "LOST") in there. I used to watch the show , until I got LOST.
So, today was a very good hump day!!

Sunday was a goood day!!!

We went to a MARVELOUS dinner @ Ruth Chris steak house sat night...enjoyed a conversation without being interrupted 5,000 times.......and took our time eating dessert. Don't get me wrong, but these are things that are now UN-USUAL to us since our princess has arrived!!! we haven't had a conversation, ate at a normal speed, laughed at our jokes for quite sometime...we miss "US".
woke up sunday morning....Alika had the morning planned out...to go watch the sunrise @ Makapu'u Lighthouse!!! Got coffee & headed out in the black sky. when we got there, the stars were sooo bright!!! I live in the city, I DONT SEE THE STARS!!!
then the sun crept up and was a BEAUTIFUL morning!!!!

My Dear friend Tami had a huge superbowl party ( every year) and because this time last year we were in her backyard getting married, she made a cupcake 3 layered tier ( spelling??) as she came out with the candle lit singing.......

yep, it all came tumbling DOWN!!! Tami, you soo thoughtful, it was beautiful, AND YUMMY!!!! thank you for working sooo hard at making "our" day special!!!! we love you!!

A Anniversary weekend!!!!

First my Friday started with Alika sending me roses...I haven't had roses sent to my job in YEARS!! Then all the girls in the office were singing "Happy Anniversary". ( I just love the school I'm at..unfortunatly Thurs is my last day :( ). Then came saturday....
we went to the Punahou ( one of Hawaii's most famous private schools ) carnival. Tiki found a ride that surprised me that she liked. It lifts you up to the tallest point....then DROPS you like your freefalling. I WAS SCARED!!! I couln't get my stunt daughter OFF, she went on it over & over!!! then she broke the news.....

"Mom, DON'T COME WITH ME..I WANNA GO BY MYSELF!"

I merely suggested that maybe I should go to....

"MOM, I WANNA GO BY MYSELF!!"

oooookay.....she is the second to the left one, this paticular ride had ALL GIRLS and everyone was laughing at them cuz they all screamed at the same time!! tooo cute.!!
