Giving Back!!

Here is Tiki giving her old board to her friend Nahe who didn't have a board!! Nahe was soooo excited!!! Tiki won a board, so we gave this to her...she boogie boards because when your young....surfboards if hit on the head with can change your whole outlook....so this foam board is perfect to train on!!! She went out and did sooo well!! she will be in future contest!!!

The kids have sooo much to DO at this surfspot besides surfing!!! When they get burned out, they look around and start other things.

This is Vanina. She moved here from Arizona after visiting Hawaii, and took up surfing. The kids surfed soo good today. We had the BEST BBQ I've been too in a loooong time!!!

This is Alyssa Wooten and Keanu Asing. I've know these kids for awhile, and just to see their surfing skyrocket from just "surfing" to winning top national titles ( Keanu just won in Bali ). They are soo good with Tiki and I think she has a crush on Keanu!

Two girls just met...her name is Mele, and surfs with her dad and looooves it. She has a sister name Hula and her dad takes them out one at a time and they just adore him. Last night had about 30 kids, skateboarding, racing (on foot, bikes, ) around the parking lot. It reminded me of the "old days" when we were little and the parents all got together and kids ran around doing God knows what!

Being ME!!!

This is my friend Tammy Moniz. She is the mother of 5 wonderful kids who are HOT, HOT , HOT!! (surfers) Her husband, Tony is a professional surfer and they own their own surf company.

It's Friday, and I met up with my other friends Ashley & Caroline ( who I don't have pictures of yet!)

I love going out with Tammy because she PUSHES me. she is somewhat new to the standing up surfing, so we have a good time together!

Caroline & Ashley like to go in the pond @ Ala Moana where the water is flat and they cruise and talk. Tammy & I like the action!

This was my 1st time out to a new surf spot. Alika was helping me get out (there is a rock wall & waves crashing as you get in & out). Tammy got out faster...this IS HER SPOT. She started yellin at me. I just kept yelling back!! "ok, ok I'm coming". With a smile on her face she KEPT YELLING. this girl is a bit impatient (thinking jokingly to myself). Finally I get closer to her...still saying something! I'm now at a audible range!! I can hear her!!

" I JUST SAW A 6FT. SHARK!!" Suddenly my fun face switches to Holy *@*#$*@!!!!! How can I possible surf a new spot, KNOWING I'm going to fall and enjoy this??!! Every time I caught a wave , I made sure i didn't fall!!! But it didn't last. I fell. And was sure , Mr or Mrs. shark was waiting for ME! Like a little kid who quickly swims to the edge of the pool once they realize they've gone too far, I was on my board faster than anyone has every seen!!! what a vision I must of been!

I wanted to go in. I didn't want Tammy to think I was a wuss! I just kept going. Finally, because the waves were big, I was exhausted! We joined the 2 other girl for cruise time.

Tammy had a great idea. Lets race...a "friendly" race ( uh huh,,,sure!) off we go, I was paddling fast..singing "girls just wanna have fuuunnn" when suddenly my board STOPS on a DIME!! I go flying through the air over my board...missing the nose( of my board) by an inch, only to find out Tammy meant to grab my leash to slow me down & instead it stopped & jerked me. She was very apologetic ( through all her hysterical laughing)!! That, I should of had a picture of .

Did I mention?? This is my friend ,Tammy??.....

All in all, I was free!! I was Dina. I was not a Mom, not Alika's "other half". I was Dina. with my girls....man!....that was a great afternoon!

This Weekend.....

I will take my stand up board to a new location with some girls , making the most of the fact that my body is complete (just not how I really want it to look!), and the ocean never lets me down of putting a smile on my face. I will also return to my "spot" with just a little more zest because it will be like returning home!!

Sometimes when all we do is stay home, we forget how great home feels!

Nothing ALOT of coffee can't fix

At 2:30 AM suddenly and out of NO WHERE a car horn just went off!!! After about 3 seconds , when you expect someone to lay OFF the horn it continued to blow ...FOR 25 MINUTES STRAIGHT!!! *&$%%$##@#!!!!

I wondered how many lay there like myself so angry i was gonna SNAP!! A couple of times I heard someone BANGING ON THE CAR. Don't know if it was a stranger trying to "fix the problem" themselves or it was the owner.

After awhile I figured it was not owners fault, and this horn just had a mind of itself.

2 1/2 hours later (5:30AM) my dear best friend from California called to remind me to send her a picture. ( Hi Nettie :) I know she didn't realize the time difference. So suddenly I feel like a sleep deprived "new mom", and I just put my keys in the refrigerator!! ha haha!! I am off to get a LARGE LATTE!!!

Numerology

212. It is a area code for NYC. I never knew they had this cologne. I wonder if it's something I would like?!

212 used to be a common code on my pager...back in the dayz when we had Pagers, not cell phones.

The "code" has not been seen on a pager or cell phone for 15 years, but everytime I see this number ...I think of a friend of mine.

So to you 212....Hello and hope all is well!!

A part of me.

A YEAR ago I lost my Brother Greg....I think of him everyday, whether it's a song, a memory, or seeing 2 siblings play like we did. This was us...He ALWAYS LOVED MINNESOTA VIKINGS and I loved Miami Dolphins. It is scary to think its been a year. Life just continues to move soo fast. I love you Greg!! :(

Adjustments

School has begun, my girl has adjusted to Kindergarten rather smoothly. In the morning I assist the Senior K class, then assisting in the Cafeteria. Tiki is fine until she "sees me" then the tears come. Maybe a little jealousy that I'm tying another kids shoes, opening their milk...but as the days go by, she is becoming just another kid who is not crying for me. then that bothers me. lol. when is everything NEVER enough!!!

Went to Kmart and was browsing when Tiki noticed "paddles" they were HER size and adjustable. hmmm pretty cool. put a couple of ROXY (of course) stickers on and she was hooked.
The first time we tried it was without Alika and she would NOT GET OUT OF THE WATER!!! She was on her knees and catching waves and paddling back out for more. I had to DRAG her out. I guess it's in her DNA. the other day Alika bought me a new board!!!! Now we all go out and paddle around.

Very cool sport. I suggest it to everyone ( especially families...you can do it in lakes , or rivers....)
