ALL IN A DAYS WORK ! !!

Work has been...well, lets just say, quite a mixed bag. Every morning I'm called into a different school ( could be Elementary, High, Middle). So the range is quite amusing .

I had a little 7 yr old ( they ALWAYS come in with a buddy who escorts the sick, hurt to Health Room). He was a little Japanese boy. Almost in tears. The "Aunty" in me comes out.

me: whats the matter baby?!

boy: Ryan, (sniff, sniff) hit me, and I...I need ( sniff sniff) a b.b.bb BANDAID!!

Oh the tears are FLOWIN NOW!!

me: OK, sit down...(pushing his hair out of his eyes) I'm gonna make it ALL BETTER!!!

boy: are you a Doctor?

escorting buddy: she's a NURSE!!

I'm giggling in the corner , as I get his bandaid.

THE CRYING STOPS....

boy: (with EXTREME devilish GRIN) oooohh, I LIKE NURSES!!!!

I immediately whip around, to see if that JUST came out of the mouth that was 7 & crying!!!!

me: yooooooouu DO??

boy:YEP! DOCTORS MAKE GRANDPA'S DIE!!!!

OMG!!!! I tried sooo hard not to laugh in his face. he was soo precious! He really thought he was now in good "hands" because I was NOT a DOCTOR!!!

The good thing with Elementary school...the kids are HONEST!! they don't know how to manipulate people with "fake" ailments to get out of class, or go home...when they come in...
they are what they are!!! I like that part of my job!!

JUST ANOTHER TERRIBLE DAY IN PARADISE !!!

Went to Kailua Beach, IT WAS BREATHTAKING how clear of a day, no wind.....we never pass up a good "Beach Day".

Dreams DO come TRUE!!!

Ok, here's the deal.....a BILLIONARE here in Hawaii owns something like 22 homes similar (or BIGGER) to the one posted. It is in a VERY wealthy neighborhood ( comparable to BEVERLY HILLS). He has made a public announcement....he wants to rent his houses out to Native Hawaiians!!! He feels the neighborhood has pushed out the ethnicity that once flourished the islands. He wants to rent out HIS 22 homes for $150.00 to $200.00 a MONTH!!! Yes, You read that RIGHT!! Crazy yeah?! Well, I'm ALL ABOUT CRAZINESS!!! YEP, I'M APPLYING!! I'm not certain if because I'm Caucasian that it "ruins" it, we'll soon find out. He wants hard working people ( not slackers).....that's my husband!!! If it sounds to good to be true, I agree.....Oh yeah, he wants the people to throw Luau's, entertain, get to know the community....RIGHT UP OUR ALLEY!!!!
I'll keep you posted.....he wants a Luau....all my friends (bloggers included)....pack your bags....you'll get the BEST LUAU you've ever been to!!!

YEEEEE HAAAAWWW !!!!

Wow!!! Last night went to PBR ( Professional Bull Riding). Here in Hawaii, you DON'T get these kind of opportunities very often. It was EXCITING, yet there was compassion for the riders AND the Bulls. I've watched this on T.V. My Dad used to LOVE to watch this, or take all of us to the local Rodeo. I want to hire the DJ who played all this cool music, me & Tiki were dancing in our seats. (Alika was moving a bit too :) )

They pull the rope, the gate flies open and you don't know what to expect...a longhorn, spotted, no horn, but big hump on his back....the Bulls all have their own "look" that makes me wonder ....Why, would ANYONE look at him and think, " I can get on his back for 8 seconds". They are pretty intimidating! A couple of guys got STOMPED on after their dismount...I Don't care to see that part of it.

One Bull, started chasing every one down ( clowns, etc) HE WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO THE GATE, they tried cornering him, then roping him & dragging him back into the gate...I think that was disturbing to Tiki...she looked at me with such worry and said " Mom, I'll be back...I going to help him" and she tries to exit her seat.
Alika looked at me and said "just like Mommy". I have a "need" not to hurt things ( cockroaches, bugs in the house) my theory is "capture" it & take it outside. Drives my husband NUTS!!!
I believe my little girl is a "HELPER" beyond. AWESOME EVENT, looking forward to next time they come to Hawaii!!!

GO EMMIT!!! Man, I did NOT get into this show till this season.
Only him and Mario Lopez. I'm a HUGE Mario fan, the guy is FLAWLESS looking, his body is a work of art ( yes my husband KNOWS I think Mario is "HOT") but God, I love Emmit ALL AROUND!!! His personality, charming, and I think the fact that hes a FOOTBALL players and moves with such GRACE....

Just another day at work....

I had a funny experience, and right away I thought of Bill Cosby's show " Kids say the darndess things!!!"

Yesterday was quite busy in my Health Room, all very sick with fever & (sorry) getting sick. I started to feel a bit queezy myself.

One boy came in with a very red & irrated eye. He said Itchy, blah blah blah....possible pink eye?? ( they NEED TO GO HOME IF PINK EYE). Call the mom, she's NOT calling back. Boy explains ( or COMPLAINS) " all she does is drive around at work, she should be answering or calling back right away". No call. I Keep trying, she finally answers cell....SHE sounds very sick!!! I explain the situation, she goes on to say she has the flu ( and sounds EVERY bit of it), she was going to call me back and see if arrangements could be made for someone else to pick up her boy. I hang up. Tell him that she's going to get a neighbor or someone to help her cuz she sick. He looks at me, very matter of factly and says " I don't know why she's soo sick, she was fine last night when she went to a wine tasting party ALL NIGHT". oooohhhhhh, I tried not to snicker with laughter and feel like I had just embarked on a little family secret!! All I kept thinking to myself was " Boy, please do NOT repeat this when your Mother comes in to sign you out!" I was partially cringing with the thought of " I'm SURE she would of DIED if she knew he just told me that". Life is funny, kids are too honest. I guess thats why I LOVE them soo much!

This is Sione (pronounced C-O-nay) . My sisters baby ( he just turned 9 last week). Today is no work, no school,so were going to see him....and Tiki ADORES Sione. They are VERY mischievious, playful, and she laughs soooo hard when
shes around him like I've never heard before!!! I love to put these two together because all they do is LAUGH! The laughter that comes from the bottom of your gut, makes you drool, face turn red to blue...laugh. She doesn't have "that" laughter with anyone else. Just her cousin Sione.
Sione is DETERMINED to be a Football player, and he has such natural talent already. He is forever thinking of Tiki...constantly bringing her "gifts" he won @ a fair, bought her something from school, saved all his tickets from Chuck E. Cheese....he's always been a "GIVER". We love you Sione, can't wait to hear you & Tiki laugh!!!

Dedicated to people who care for SPECIAL ED KIDS !!!!

I just want to say, MAHALO to ALL the people who care for Special Ed kids!! Teri, Vonnie, Ursel...etc... I worked yesterday and had a emergency call to the Special Ed Room , where a beautiful little girl was having a seizure. This is the first time I've EVER seen one..and on a little girl hit me in the heart!!! That could be my girl. I know there is not much to DO for one but in this case the EA's held her hand and said "squeeze my hand if you can hear me" SHE DID!!!
Apparently she has been having them more frequent & ambulance had to come ( at the request of the mother).

Not to have a depressing post, but more of a "pat on the back" to those who take care of the kids who cannot take care of themself's.

Needless to say when I picked up Tiki from school I hugged her soo tight , my vains were popping out!!!

And those of you who have kids with Special needs....They TRULY are SPECIAL !!!

I don't know what took me soo long to post this...my DEAR FRIEND/SISTER, Tami made Tiki this Nap Set for her preschool!! All sewn with L-O-V-E !! She knew I needed to find a pillow & blanket when Tiki began preschool & "whipped" this up for her. All the Moms have been asking 'WHERE, DID YOU GET THAT NAP SET??!!!"

BEING WHAT YOUR NOT......

That's what today was allllllll about!!! Everyday, my boss calls @ 6:45am, to give me my destination for the day ( which school I'll be subbing at ). Let's back up...to 5:30am. Alika & I making our lunches for the day.

Alika: "Where are you today?"

Me: " won't know till an hour or so..I'll probably get Farrington"

Throughout training , I've been warned..."YOU DON'T WANT FARRINGTON"

Alika ( trying to be supportive ): "Nah, you won't get them"

Boss: "Goooood Morning Dina!! ( sounded good soooo far ), today you will be at FARRINGTON!"

My voice trembles...I'M SCARED!! " Ohhhh, I've heard soo much about them". Hoping for some sort of POSITIVE "SOMETHING"!

Boss: " Yeah, I know, it's a rough school.....".

k, now I'm trembling & weeping...

Me: o..k...kk...kk... ( I start stuttering )

I hang up full of fear...To make a short story loooong. I survived, but I had ALL KINDS of Attitude, excuses, I became this white chick, in a VERY ROUGH, TOUGH environment only to find out that if you look beyond the ethnic, stereotypes.....that they were JUST LIKE ME in alot of ways....acting tougher than we really are, all out of FEAR. When we talked , their hearts became softer.

On the way to drop Tiki off I said " Tiki, can you Pray with me?" Always happy to for me she says "gimme your hand". As I drive, with one hand on the wheel, one reached back to Tiki's car seat, I say a quick prayer to watch over my day, and Tiki's. AMEN!! Tiki says "THANKS MOM..." If she only knew......she was helping ME!

THAT BITES !!!!!!

Well, Halloween has come & gone. Tiki got to go trick or treating with her school ( by the neighborhood stores).. Thank God for that. Every year, we go to Tami's house...it's tradition, we haven't missed one...EVER!! The rain was soooo bad on that side of the Island, I almost couldn't get home ( I worked on that side ) Then work decided TODAY that I needed my flu shot so I won't catch it from the kids. 2 hours later, knocked out on the couch feeling like I got the , helllllooooo , FLU!!!! Alika was going to take her around our neighborhood...it started to rain over here..

Stayed home, thankfully shes too young to "get it" , she seems just happy enough just playing with her PINK TEETH!!
